The Drazevac shelter is located in the village of Drazevac and takes care of a large number of abandoned animals. The shelter is run by a grandmother and granddaughter, who since 2009 have been taking in, collecting and rescuing various types of animals, so at the moment they have about 250 dogs, 150 cats, about 10 sheep, a couple of goats, one donkey, two horses, two iguanas, several parrots, about 10 rodents and many poultry including ducks, turkeys and geese.
The founders and at the same time the only permanent persons in the Shelter know the name of each animal, the time of arrival at the Shelter, as well as the history associated with life before the Shelter. So we learned that some animals were saved from slaughter, others were bought to save them from difficult living conditions, others were found wounded or tortured.
Our clinic has been successfully cooperating with this Shelter for several years, providing the necessary medical care, mainly to sick animals (diagnosis, surgery, treatment), but also periodically carrying out preventive procedures in the form of vaccinations, microchipping, protection against parasites.
Several times a year, our clinic also organizes a fundraiser for this shelter. This help comes in the form of financial donations, animal feed, equipment and medical supplies, textiles that the shelter can use as animal bedding, and even old newspapers. It is through this procedure that we try to support the work of the Shelter, but also to reduce the inevitable financial costs.
By providing advice to pet owners, we try to raise awareness of responsible ownership and reduce the rate of abandoned animals. To ensure that an animal taken from a shelter does not end up on the street again, we advise you to unquestioningly comply with the legal obligation to microchip your pets. Also, when adopting an animal that has not been spayed or neutered at the time, it is recommended that these surgical procedures be performed as soon as possible.
Our goal is clear - the welfare and health of the animal must come first!
